What a glorious week we have had in TB - the weather and children have been sensational!
Sessions have started this week with three things: blossom sketching, a game of Baby Bird or munchkin egg hunting. With the sketching, we looked at techniques for setting out, adding detail and adding value (shading) - once complete, we laid our work round the fire circle and voted on the pictures we thought were the best (British Values - Democracy).
Lower School have carouselled round the challenges from last week, namely nest building, harpoon crafting, whale migration mapping, whale collaging and whale measuring.
Upper School have continued with their challenges from last week: shield design and painting, memorial stone carving and dragon relief art. With the shields, children have been consolidating their knowledge of angles and protractors as well as honing measuring skills in cm and mm - also, to aid with painting, we have been accurately using masking tape (children have enjoyed removing this after painting and seeing the gloriously straight lines)!
After every TB session, we sit round the fire circle and discuss the challenges that have been undertaken - this is an opportunity for staff to big-up the children in their group, giving stand-out-performers a Gold Star...there have been many big-ups this week...did your child get one?
