Coronavirus Update- School Closure

Coronavirus update – School Closure

We have been instructed by the government to close the school to almost all children from Monday 23rd March, until further notice.

As advised, we will do all we can to stay open for vulnerable children and those where parents are key workers and are required to work to help the country in the fight against Covid-19.

The government have now released their list of 'key workers', which can be found at the link below, but have also recommended that any parents working in these sectors who can keep their child safely at home, should do so to help prevent the spread of the virus.

As a school, we will also remain open to children considered 'vulnerable
', which include children who are supported by social care, those with safeguarding and welfare needs, including child in need plans, on child protection plans, ‘looked after’ children, young carers, disabled children and those with education, health and care (EHC) plans.

May I remind you that the same rules apply for whole household self-isolation for 14 days where there are any symptoms of the coronavirus present (as described previously, this is a temperature above 37.8 degrees and/or a persistent cough).

If you think you or your child fit the criteria above, please contact the school office on 01332 880540 or email us on info@kilburn-jun.derbyshire.sch.uk.

All other children will need to stay at home until further notice, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards.

If your child usually receives free school meals, we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide these, with support from a scheme that the government has just announced.

This is as much detail as we know right now and we appreciate your continued patience with us whilst we deal with this ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and it’s far from ideal, but we will be in touch with any updates as the situation develops.

We will continue to let you know any further government guidance regarding the school closure via ParentHub and our website.

If you want to get in touch to share any concerns you may have, please don’t hesitate to call us at school or email us on the above email address and we will do our best to help. Please note that we will strive to keep our usual communication channels open, but we would appreciate your patience as there may not be an immediate response.

Here to Help

As a school, we offer 'Early Help' support to families living in the school community and given the unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in and the extra pressure on family life,  I wanted to let all of our families know about some support services that are available to them.

Help for Parents and Families

Thank you again for your continued support, and we will be in touch with more information as soon as we can.

Stay in school guys

I would like to personally thank you for keeping us updated during this difficult time, and also how reassured I felt seeing the cleaner doing a thorough job of sanitising all the classrooms, whilst I was waiting to see Miss Brown at parents evening Thank you everyone at kilburn junior school.
