Team Endeavour - how big is the Sun?

Today, team Endeavour used rounding and division to calculate the radii of the Sun, Earth and Moon to enable us to draw scale representations of them on the playground; we wanted to get an idea of just how colossal the sun was relative to the Earth and Moon.

Once we had found a suitable scale, we used a range of measuring devices along with string and chalk to accurately mark out the perimeter of each; we were astounded! On our scale, the diameter of the Earth was a mere 12.8cm, whereas the Sun was a whopping 1390cm! WOW - she certainly is a big girl!
